강원도의 작은 산촌에 위치한 SITE는 동해로 흐르는 가곡천을 전면에 두고 산에 둘러 쌓여 있다.

산속의 경관과 어울리면서 먼 길을 찾아오는 방문객들의 기대감을 극대화하기 위하여 그레이 톤의 massive한 건물의 형태로 접근하였다. 재료의 texture, color, 빛&어둠 등 건축적 구성요소들의 contrast를 이용한 다양한 공간적 재미를 연출하였다.

특히 내부의 직선계단 측면은 massive한 건물이 자연스럽게 분열되는 것을 표현하여 땅속을 가르고 솟아오르는 온천수를 상기한다.

Located in a small mountain village in Gangwon-do, the site is surrounded by mountains with the Gagok Stream flowing into the East Sea in front.

It was approached in the form of a massive building in gray tones to harmonize with the mountain scenery and maximize the expectations of visitors coming from a long way. Various spatial fun was created by using the contrast of architectural elements such as material texture, color, light & dark.

In particular, the side of the straight staircase inside expresses the natural fragmentation of a massive building, recalling the hot spring water rising through the ground.
